SAIL recognizes that learning happens everywhere. Historically, Northeastern’s educators and learners have viewed experiential learning as something that happens “out there”—at co-op, on a Dialogue or study abroad, in the lab or in the field. SAIL helps everyone extract meaning from all manner of experience, embracing the idea that learning happens everywhere.
What’s more, SAIL invites everyone to think and talk about their learning in an integrated way. Using a shared framework and vocabulary makes it easier for people to exchange their ideas and transfer understanding from one context or situation to another. And in a world where learning must be lifelong, SAIL equips everyone to be both learners and educators, constantly exchanging knowledge and perspectives.
SAIL Educator Exchange: Integrating the SAIL Framework into Your Teaching
Engaging Learners’ Prior Knowledge through SAIL
The SAIL digital toolkit provides the ability for students to visualize how each experience at Northeastern contributes to their holistic growth and development across the SAIL framework and skills. As a faculty/staff member, you can share your learning opportunities, reach more students, and help students build these meaningful connections across contexts by entering them in the web-based SAIL Educator Portal.
